Joe Coors

The semester is coming to a close and our last speaker for Spring 2012 will be none other than Joe Coors! Joe Coors is a familiar name in the Golden area as his great grandfather Adolph Coors started the Coors Brewery in 1873. With a degree in Math from North Carolina State University, Joe Coors has held a number of jobs over the years, including President and CEO of CoorsTek. Now Joe is running for congress in Colorado’s seventh congressional district, and he’ll be on campus this coming Monday!
So come by 5:00 PM next Monday, April 16th, to Alderson Hall 151 and meet Joe Coors! FREE PIZZA will be provided!

Urinetown, the Musical

Mines Little Theatre is proud to present Urinetown, the Musical! This satirical comedy is an exciting show that portrays a water shortage so terrible that people are forced to pay in order to use the toilet. An uprising of the people leads to a revolutionary power struggle between the rich corporate officials and the poor people of the town. Love, comedy, tragedy, corruption, violence, and hope are brought up throughout the musical. Come see it!!!!

Nathan Gates, from the Jeffco Center for Mental Health, will teach you how to make the most of every day, let go of unhelpful behavior patterns, and keep a healthy outlook on life. Plus, he has promised to hand out some cool toys guaranteed to lower your stress level. With all that and delicious empanadas too, this may be the most worthwhile hour you’ve spent all week.

Enter your own car in the show for student price of $10. ($15 regular) and help us raise money for the Formula 1 car and Baja SAE competition.

The Colorado School of Mines Kayak Club would like to welcome you to the 2012 Icebreaker Kayak festival on Saturday, April 14th. This will include a movie showing, race, prizes, burritos and beer!

The kayak race will take place at the Clear Creek Whitewater Park in Golden, Colorado at 1201 10th St. Registration is $10 for non-ACA members and $5 for ACA members. The schedule is as follows:

10:00 a.m. Check-in

10:45: Safety talk

11:00: Women's Boatercross Start

12:15: Men's Boatercross Start

1:00: Clean-up Competition

2:00: Rubber ducky 50/50 race

Saturday night there will be a movie showing in Coolbaugh Hall 209, 1012 14th St. (on campus.) Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is $10, which includes beer and Qdoba catering.

Even if you are not a kayaker, come show up for the movie and rubber ducky race!
