The RMSAWWA/RMWEA Student Conference is a forum for graduate students to present water-related research and design projects to an audience of science and engineering professionals. The conference fosters networking among students, engineering and consulting firms, local utilities, and university faculty within the Rocky Mountain region.

We are soliciting abstracts on student research to be presented at the conference. Any PhD or MS student (individual or group) is eligible to submit an abstract on research activities with which they are directly involved. This can include laboratory studies, fieldwork, class projects, and/or modeling. We welcome and encourage a broad range of topics. ANY topic, such as those provided below, that can be directly or indirectly related to surface or groundwater supply and quality is welcome.

Climate Change Issues/Impacts Microbiology/Organisms in Water
Disinfection By-Products Residuals and Disposal
Water Treatment in Developing Countries Source Protection and Security
Disinfection Practices Taste and Odor Issues
Inorganic Contaminants Treatment Processes and Techniques
Lab Methods and Analysis UV, AOP, Ozone

Selection Criteria:

The conference committee will select oral presentations based on originality, clarity, technical content, and the widespread significance/applicability of the topic. Presentations will be 20 minutes long (15 minute presentations with 5 minutes for questions). Some abstracts will be selected for poster presentations.

Directions for Abstract Submission:

  •  Open the attached file named abstractform.doc
  • Fill out the top section with your personal information and paste your abstract in the space provided. Abstracts are to be in 12 pt Times New Roman font, single spaced, should contain no more than two figures/tables referenced in the abstract, and should fit in the room provided.
  •  Save the file as “YourLastname_YourFirstname.doc” and e-mail to Awwa.wef.csm@gmail.com with the subject “Abstract Submission”.
