The 24 hour play festival is an awesome opportunity for anyone who is interested in theatre! We need actors, writers, directors, audience members, and anyone else who is looking for a good time!
What is a 24 hour play festival?
Well, basically, at 7pm on friday we will begin by casting shows. That means that we will have small auditions so that we can get a feel for people's strengths! This means that anyone wishing to preform should come prepared to perform a monologue, a short scene, a song, some back flips, or anything else appropriate to demonstrating your theatre skills.
Then, once groups have been assigned, the writers will get to work on writing scripts! Directors will be given random prompts throughout the night, and your the scripts will be due at 6am on saturday!!! We will be writing in the ford building, and anyone who wants to write must bring a computer.
At 7am on saturday, actors will begin rehearsals! You will learn your lines, be given blocking from directors, and prepare costumes for the show! Actors and directors may be given added challenges during this process to incorporate into their show.
Finally, at 7pm on saturday, we will perform the shows that have been written, directed, and produced in the 24-hour time period!!!! (get it?!)
Do you have to stay all 24 hours?
It is recommended that you stay the whole 24 hours simply because it's AWESOME, but technically no, you don't have to stay! We all know that the life of a Mines student is taxing, so you only need to come to the portions you wish to be involved in. Also, there will be times when we let people break for food, so don't worry about starving.
If you don't wish to preform, please come to the performances!! They are free! They are Saturday the 17th at 7pm in Ballroom's D and E!!! Invite you'r friends!!!
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me (Kari Kron) an email at kkron@mymail.mines.edu! Thanks!
