Peter J Weddle - President

About Peter
My name is Peter Weddle and I am a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering. I came to Mines as a closeted undergrad from California in 2010. Through my involvement in the service fraternity (Alpha Phi Omega), I learned how to accept myself and how to surround myself with supportive allies. I can't promise that the school has the most developed programs for LGBT+ students because we have a long way to go. But I can promise that we do have advocates fighting for us all of the time both in administration, resident's life, the student body, and of course oSTEM. I now volunteer at the GLBT Center in Denver and am the president of oSTEM for 2016-2017. I am proud of how I learned to grow at Colorado School of Mines and now I am striving to help others feel comfortable in their own skin on campus.
